Hey Mama Wolf
Beara - A Tweed Yarn as Mystical and Powerful as the Nature of Ireland!
The namesake of this yarn, "Cailleach Bhéarra" or the "Hag of Beara," is a figure from Irish mythology and folklore. She is often depicted as an ancient, powerful goddess or wise woman, deeply connected to the Irish landscape and the cycles of nature. We’re pretty sure she knows a thing or two about sheep and wool!
Beara is made from Irish wool and UK alpaca and is spun in Ireland at the historic Donegal Yarns mill. This keeps transport routes short and ensures that Irish sheep farms benefit from a steady demand for their wool. Small farms, in particular, often struggle to bring their wool to market profitably. That’s why Beara blends wool from different breeds, supporting local shepherds and preserving Ireland’s rich wool heritage.
